Requirements:

·         Bachelor degree in safety engineering, occupational safety or health, environmental science, industrial relations or related field.

·         Minimum of five years of experience as safety professional in heavy industry (steel mill or mining) or manufacturing organizations.

·         Strong exposure to health and safety regulations and requirements, investigating work place safety, and worker’s compensations claims.

·         Ability to travel to plants in Quebec, Ontario and United States foe meetings.

·         Applicant must be eligible to obtain a Passport and possess a valid driver’s license.

·         Bilingualism required (oral and written).

Our client whose offices are located in Monteregie (Montreal South Shore) and in Ontario is looking for an Environment, Health and Safety Manager to support its team of more than 200 employees. Our client is a multinational company that offers metal recycling services to steel and metal industries. A human and stimulating environment awaits you!

 

The position is under the supervision of the Environment, Health and Safety Director - North America

 

Description of responsibilities:

·         Monitors and evaluates the workplace to ensure compliance with rules and related provincial regulations.

·         Leads a safe working environment and culture with improvement in key safety indicators.

·         Implements and supports safety policies and procedures (local, provincial and OSHA).

·         Prepare studies and analyses of industrial safety incident causes.

·         Assist Worker’s Compensation Claim Manager including the investigation and monitoring of accidents and injuries.

·         Completes monthly statistical reports.

·         Organizes and conducts training courses as needed.

·         Collaborates with the Project Leader to develop and manage safety projects.

·         Interface with environmental and OSHA (American Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulators.

·         Perform compliance audits at various job sites.

·         Provides guidance to job sites and prepares and distributes safety communication as needed.
